A woman has revealed she temporarily lost her vision and suffered scarring after attempting a DIY TikTok beauty procedure.
Tilly Whitfield, who is a contestant on Big Brother Australia, revealed she suffered horrific injuries after trying a viral beauty procedure, which had promised to create ‘faux freckles’, a popular trend at the moment.
Taking to Instagram after viewers noticed her using a particular product on her skin regularly, Tilly explained what happened and shared photos the injuries she suffered,
Tilly writes “For those asking why I have my blue clay face mask on continuously through out the show this is what my face looked like a week prior to entering the house hence why I always have makeup on and my skin is always covered. This is the result of attempting to remove scarring I inflicted on myself trying to replicate an at home beauty procedure I saw on a tik tok video 2 months before big brother. (sic)”
She warned her followers “Please please don’t try any “DIY” or “at home” beauty procedures.”
Tilly shared more details of her ordeal, which was truly horrifying.
She said ” I ended up in hospital with temporary loss of vision in my eye due to swelling and was very sick from the infection, not to mention my face was somewhat unrecognisable. Leave it to the professionals.”
Tilly also explained details of the scarring that the DIY procedure caused. She revealed she suffered deep below surface level scaring and dark pigmentation.
It’s not clear what exact procedure Tilly did, but she said “I literally shoved needles deep into my skin.”
We imagine Tilly has raised a lot of awareness about these trends and will help prevent other young people from trying them.
